Hartstone Inn & Hideaway

We arrived on Christmas and stayed for several nights. The Inn was a great location with quiet and very comfortable rooms. What really made the stay memorable was the warm welcome and service from the staff, with a special call out to Kaya and Laura who both just made us feel at home. The breakfast was impressive, and still dreaming of those blueberry pancakes. The Chef, Travis, and his team deliver on exceptional food for both breakfast and dinner. You will definitely want to make dinner reservations. We can't wait to go back!

We’ve stayed here twice now with the previous owners annd the new owners and had a lovely time both times. Incredible three-course breakfast with pastries, and beautifully crafted main dishes, included in the stay. Comfortable and clean rooms, jacuzzi tubs are wonderful. And it’s just up the street from the Main Street and shops. The service and staff are always so friendly and accommodating. But the highlight is always the food and the three course dinners and dining experience. Sensational menus and flavors.

I am giving a 2.5 rating. My wife and I will not be returning, and will no longer be recommending this hotel. My wife and I have been celebrating our anniversary and staying at Hartstone Inn & Hideaway since 2017. The previous owners put their love into this place and made their guests feel welcomed. However, the new owners seem to care more about cutting corners and saving money than customer service. My points of issue: 1. Stains on the pillow case (either blood or lipstick); 2. The television/cable doesn't work; 3. You used to be able to order a wonderful breakfast made by their chef. Now they have a buffet, which isn't told to you until you arrive; 4. We were told that Happy Hour was at 5, but when we arrived at 5, we were told they don't have Happy Hour; 5. They call their dinners fine dinning, but the duck entree that I ordered (over $60) was unseasoned/bland and the sides and sauce was burned and inedible. I can't explain how disappointing this stay was. I know the owners and people running it won't read this based on the lack of care here, but i hope I can prevent some one else from having the same experience.

I can't recommend the Hartstone Inn enough! The location to downtown Camden is fabulous and easily walkable to all restaurants and shopping. All the staff are friendly, offering suggestions on restaurants or places to get a cocktail and enjoy the views. The inn, too, is adorable, providing a perfect mix of the historical house and modern conveniences. The ensuite bathroom of the Toscana room was small but perfectly sufficient for showering. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, and they provide USB charging on the nightstand. Breakfast is included with the rate and is served 8-10 am. I was pleasantly surprised with how tasty it was! They had delicious yogurt, granola, fresh wild Maine blueberries and other fruit, tasty croissants and other pastries, along with a buffet of scrambled eggs, breakfast sausage, and bacon. Coffee was also really good! I am already looking forward to returning here!

I hate to give this rating because we so badly wanted to love it. We booked the Paris room with the romance package for our honeymoon. The package was supposed to be champagne, strawberries, and a fresh bouquet of roses. None of that was in our room. The next day we followed the instructions to have our room made up, we put up the sign before 9am. When we got back at 4pm from Acadia the room was accessed by someone but the room was not made up. They opened the curtains, put away the robes in the closet, and that’s it. The bed was not made, they didn’t take out the trash, they didn’t replenish anything, and they didn’t replace our towels. Honestly this was probably the most disappointing stay during our honeymoon. They claimed they comped our romance package but it’s still over a thousand dollars for two nights. Do yourself a favor and book ANYWHERE else. Staffing issues or not it was very unpleasant and unorganized.
